Christians United for Israel (CUFI)

Christians United for Israel (CUFI)
Christians United for Israel (CUFI) is the largest and most politically influential Christian Zionist organization in the United States, founded and led by televangelist and Cornerstone Church pastor John Hagee.

With over 10 million claimed members, CUFI functions as the primary engine for mobilizing pro-Israel sentiment among right-wing evangelical and Charismatic Christians. The organization publicly frames its mission as being “committed to Israel’s strength, security, and sovereignty”—yet its theological foundation rests on an apocalyptic vision in which the return of Jews to the Holy Land fulfills biblical prophecy and precipitates the End Times.

In the aftermath of the October 7 Hagee wrote that “Christians are to support Israel because it brings the blessings of God to them personally.” Long before the war in Gaza, he delivered ecstatic sermons envisioning a “thrilling” eschatological sequence: Christians are raptured, Israel is attacked by Iran and Russia, and the War of Gog and Magog ushers in the final battle between good and evil.

It sponsors “Nights to Honor Israel” in evangelical churches across the country with Republican officials. Its lobbying wing, the CUFI Action Fund, advocates for far-right Israeli policy positions, including settlement expansion, and has even funded projects. CUF was one of the major groups lobbying for the Trump administration to move the embassy to Jerusalem.
