A founding member of the Fidelitas, the youth organization of Fidesz, Rogán was elected MP in 1998. He has been deeply involved in the electoral campaigns of Fidesz and served as the group’s parliamentary faction leader from 2012–15. He left the position to become the chief of staff.
Fidesz’ political messaging was overseen by both Rogán and Arpad Habony, with American consultant Arthur Finklestein acting as an adviser before he passed away in 2017. Initially, Habony was in charge of the general thrust and messaging, with Rogán overseeing the editorial direction. With Habony’s recent shift towards consultancy overseas, Rogán is now the dominant player in that space. In 2023, he was listed as the third most influential person in Hungary by the Influence Barometer, only placing behind the richest person in Hungary, Sándor Csányi, and Viktor Orban himself.
