Hanns Seidel Foundation

This foundation promotes its values abroad and supports like-minded parties through a combination of political education and academic scholarship support. One of its primary projects is the International Democracy Union, which is an international party alliance based in the foundation's Munich headquarters that brings together conservative-liberal parties including the American Republican Party, Likud, and the Conservative and Unionist Party, among others. Although there is significant overlap with the Centrist Democrat International, the primary party international of the CSU’s sister party, the CDU, it represents more conservative and hardline tendencies within mainstream right-wing parties. The Foundation maintains bureaus in numerous global cities including but not limited to Washington, Jerusalem, Brussels, Athens, Rome, and Paris.
