He also owns a significant stake in La Derecha Diario, a pan-Hispanic far-right outlet focused on Latin American culture wars and anti-leftist propaganda.
Negre was a former journalist at the conservative Spanish daily El Mundo, where he started in 2010. His tenure was marked by controversy, including a 2019 court ruling that fined both him and the newspaper €30,000 for publishing a fabricated interview, violating the subject’s right to privacy and honor. Despite this, Negre remained at the paper until 2020, when he was dismissed due to conflicts of interest stemming from his growing independent media ventures.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Negre launched Estado de Alarma, a YouTube channel that gained notoriety for its vitriolic attacks on Spain’s left-wing coalition government and its handling of the pandemic. The platform became a hub for far-right conspiracies, anti-lockdown rhetoric, and ideological culture war content. After repeated sanctions from YouTube for violating policies on harassment and misinformation, Negre rebranded the project as the more polished EDA TV, in an effort to institutionalize and expand his media empire.
Negre’s ventures have received financial support from conservative figures and public institutions, including regional and municipal governments controlled by the Partido Popular (PP). His platforms frequently echo messaging from both the PP and the far-right Vox party, functioning as ideological amplification tools within Spain’s reactionary media ecosystem.
Expanding his operations into Latin America, Negre partnered with Argentine digital strategist Fernando Cerimedo, a close ally of President Javier Milei, acquiring a 50% stake in La Derecha Diario. Through this alliance, Negre has exported his pseudo-journalistic model to South America, launching coordinated disinformation campaigns against progressive governments and leftist movements using incendiary rhetoric and fabricated claims.
Negre’s methods have been repeatedly condemned by press freedom watchdogs, professional journalism associations, and legal authorities. Nevertheless, he remains a key figure in the Spanish-speaking far right, blending political propaganda with digital media entrepreneurship to advance a reactionary agenda.
