Carreira began his political activity under the alias Juan Doe, operating the Twitter account @jdoedoe101101, where he regularly posted pro-market, anti-leftist, and nationalist content. He became a key player in the loosely connected online ecosystem that helped elevate Milei from libertarian economist to presidential candidate. In 2018, Carreira launched La Derecha Diario as a Twitter-based news aggregator designed to selectively amplify far-right headlines and frame global events through an anti-progressive lens.
By 2020, the project had evolved into a standalone website publishing original articles, curated news, and ideological commentary. In early 2021, the wife of Argentine digital consultant Fernando Cerimedo helped formally incorporate the platform, as Cerimedo began playing a hands-on role in its operations. In 2024, Spanish pseudo-journalist Javier Negre, founder of EDATV, acquired a stake in La Derecha Diario, transforming it into a transatlantic hub for Spanish-speaking far-right coordination and media influence.
Despite his history of denouncing the public sector and mocking “parasitic” state employees, Carreira was appointed Digital Communications Director shortly after Milei’s inauguration. His appointment reflects a broader trend: the institutionalization of far-right influencers and anonymous online agitators within formal structures of power. Carreira exemplifies the transformation of a marginal Twitter figure into a key player in shaping state messaging, an embodiment of Milei’s deeply online, meme-driven political machine.
