The organization was founded at the initiative of former Spanish Interior Minister and former MEP Jaime Mayor Oreja of the Partido Popular. PNfV’s launch event in 2014 was co-sponsored by the World Congress of Families, CitizenGo, and the National Organization for Marriage, with its leader Brian Brown, speaking at the event. The organization was led by Katalin Novak before she became the president of Hungary.

In 2023, PNfV hosted an event co-sponsored by the outgoing Guatemalan government, the Heritage Foundation, and the Center for Fundamental Rights to coincide with the 75 anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The event aimed at combating the expansion of “false” human rights, like the right to an abortion, and equal rights for LGBT people. Sharon Slater, who played a key role in attempts to criminalize LGBT people in Uganda, was a featured speaker at the event.
