He eventually split off to form the Avanguardia Nazionale, which participated in various conflicts with the left during the low-level civil war in Italy raging at the time known as the Years of Lead. He was later exiled to Spain over his alleged participation in a coup attempt against the Italian government.

After a period of exile in Spain, he likely linked into the Gladio networks operating throughout Europe at this time. In 1974, he visited Chile and met Pinochet, which led him to move there two years later and become involved in the Dirty War, before moving to Argentina and continuing the same work. He went back to Spain in 1976 where he participated in the Montejurra massacre with Rodolfo Almirón. He later returned to South America, where he participated in the “Cocaine Coup" in Bolivia alongside former Nazi commando Klaus Barbie. After spending several years on the run during the 1980s, he was eventually found and deported back to Italy for trial, where he was later acquitted.

He spent the latter part of his life participating in various far-right political movements, before dying in 2019.
