Lánczi is the son of András Lánczi, a longtime advisor to Victor Orbán, an author at the magazine The European Conservative, and the Rector of Corvinus University. Lánczi began working as the chief of staff to Tibor Navracsics in 2006, who served as the Minister of Public Administration and Justice of Hungary during the second Orbán administration. By 2012 he began working for the Századvég Foundation, the primary think tank of Fidesz which contracted American consultants like Arthur Finklestein.
Lánczi became the director of Danube Consulting, the political consulting company co-owned by Finklestein and Árpád Habony. He also became the editor and chief at Figyelő, a pro-government newspaper. Under his editorship, the “Soros list” was published, which listed 200 people in Hungary who were part of his “mysterious network.” Poor sales eventually led to Lánczi being replaced as editor.
Lánczi has recently been appointed as the head of the Office for the Protection of Sovereignty which aims to counter foreign influence in the country, investigating any NGO or organization that receives funding from abroad.
