In 2021, investigations were opened in relation to Albarracín’s alleged assistance of paramilitary groups such as the Cruceñista Youth Union (UJC) and Cochala Youth Resistance (RJC). Investigators claim Albarracín provided university spaces to these groups traveling from other departments such as Santa Cruz as they carried out the 2019 coup and related violence in La Paz.
Albarracín has also revealed publicly the details and attendance of the meetings between representatives of Luis Fernando Camacho, Carlos Mesa, Catholic Church officials, and international ambassadors to provide constitutional legitimacy to Jeanine Áñez’s de facto government.
