Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front

Originally a coalition of revolutionary guerilla groups organized to resist the country’s military rulers, the FMLN became a formal party in 1992 following the end of El Salvador’s civil war. With the rise of populist strongman Nayib Bukele, the FMLN has become a marginal force within the political scene.
